The Farmer Ploughs On, A Collaboration between Pieter Jennes and Les Enluminures

Les Enluminures Paris is honored to present a collaboration with the Belgian contemporary artist Pieter Jennes. Pieter has long been drawn to, and interested in, medieval illuminated manuscripts for their expressive visual language, their intimate and intense handling experience, and their production process and materials.

Inspired by the delightful depictions of the Labors of the Month in the calendar of the exquisite medieval manuscript, the Hours of Le Goux de la Berchère, Pieter Jennes has created a select series of works for the exhibition. Encompassing painting, collage, and sculpture, depictions of medieval life and nature are here treated in ways that are both touching and meaningful.
